Research Impact

What does 'Research Impact' mean? Is it academic impact or societal impact? And why is it important?
Authors publish for impact in their academic community, which is classically measured by citations, H-index, or other bibliometric indicators. In choosing a publication authors typically seek maximizing the impact of their work. There are many options for publishing your research and sometimes it is hard to know which is the 'best' for your work. For instance how can you determine a journal's quality, where you should publish for impact, and how can you use open access publishing options for your benefit? Some ways of increasing your impact are also engaging in editorial boards, peer review, attending conferences and finding collaborations.
Societal impact, however, is measured differently. It is all about understanding the wider context, identifying and engaging with the stakeholders, and working across subject areas in a multidisciplinary environment. Read more via the LINKS below.
